Isla Mujeres is one of the few destinations in Mexico where golf carts are the primary way visitors get around — cars are limited by the local government to preserve the island's small-town character and reduce traffic. That makes a golf cart rental less of a novelty and more of a practical necessity for exploring the island's beaches, restaurants, and landmarks.

Most visitors start their day at Playa Norte, then head south along the coastal road toward Punta Sur, stopping at Garrafón Park for snorkeling or continuing to Hacienda Mundaca to explore the island's history. The full loop takes about 2-3 hours by golf cart, with plenty of stops along the way for photos, food, and the beach.

Because rental availability is limited during high season, booking in advance — especially for 6-passenger carts — is strongly recommended.
